Poroelasticity is the modeling of coupled mechanics and flow in porous media. The Biot equations are one of the most popular poroelastic models and their approximation has attracted a growing attention in recent years. The talk aims at introducing the model and pointing out the main challenges posed by its approximation, with an emphasis on the interplay of analysis and numerics. Then, some new results and open issues will be discussed. This is a joint work with C. Kreuzer.
