Title: | Walkshop on Mathematical Physics 2006 |

Organised by: | Daniel Lenz (Chemnitz), Peter Stollmann (Chemnitz), Ivan Veselić (Chemnitz) |

Venue: | Technische Universität Chemnitz |

Dates: | 12. May 2006 |

The walkshop starts at 9.00 on Friday morning in room N 113 of Neues Hörsaalgebäude. This is an mostly orange building at the Reichenhainer Straße right across the Thüringer Weg. There will be three talks in the morning. We will have lunch in the Konferenzraum on the first floor of the mensa. Then we will go for a walk untill 16:00 h after which two more talks will follow. In the evening there will be a barbecue. All the talks will be 45 minutes in length.

List of speakers

- Pavel Exner (Rez and Prague),

Quantum graphs: local and global approximations - Michael Gruber (Chemnitz)

Absolutely continuous spectrum for magnetic Schödinger operators - Hermann Schulz-Baldes (Erlangen)

Rotation numbers for Jacobi matrices with matrix entries - Hendrik Vogt (Dresden),

Perturbation of the heat equation by a potential: admissibility versus Kato class

Please make a reservation for your hotel yourself. We recommend the Seaside Residenz Hotel Chemnitz. If you mention that you are participating at a conference organized by the Technische Universität Chemnitz, you can claim the special rate for the TU Chemnitz which is 50 Euro per night.

Announcement :Dear Colleagues and Friends,

this is the first announcement of the

## Walkshop "Operators, Spectra and Mathematical Physics" TU Chemnitz, May 12, 2006

We take up an initiative that had been realized in Clausthal last year for the first time. At the same time, there had been a tradition of symposia in Mathematical Physics in Chemnitz (known as TMP) of a much larger scale.

The aim is to combine a strongly limited number of talks with a hiking tour during which there is a lot of room for discussions.

As a new format we plan to include a feature review, by which we mean a talk of someone featuring a result of someone else.

Here some more information:

- The program will start on Friday morning and end on Friday evening with a Chemnitzian barbecue.

- We can arrange for accomodation at a special rate of approximately 50 EUR.

- Our resources for funding are rather limited, so we cannot supply travel or living expenses as a rule. Those who really (!!!) need support should contact us at an early stage.

Right now we would like to ask you to let us know tentatively till 20th December 2005 whether you are interested in coming. This would enable us see how many of you can participate and accordingly conntact further potential participants. If you already know that you would like to give a talk (with a tentative title and abstract), let us know.

Looking forward to meeting you in Chemnitz,

Daniel Lenz, Peter Stollmann and Ivan Veselić
