Work in progress
Here we will put together useful information for our new students in the Master program Industrial Mathematics.
We started with some links on August, 1st, 2024.
If you have any questions please send an email to industrial@math.tu-dortmund.de
So we can build up an FAQ list.
Courses in winter 2024/2025:
- MAT-877: Simulation Techniques / Simulationstechniken, 4+2+2, Turek (in presence) (course details) / (course details in LSF - registration)
- MAT-877: Simulation Techniques / Simulationstechniken, 4+2+2, Treskatis (hybrid / online participation possible) - Please register for the Turek-course: (course details) / (course details in LSF - registration) - we will combine some information for both courses.
- MAT-424: Nonlinear Optimization / Nichtlineare Optimierung, 4+2, Meyer (course details), in some cases this module is part of the additional requirements (Auflage) / (course details in LSF - registration)
- MAT-419: Discrete Optimization / Diskrete Optimierung, 4+2, Buchheim (course details) / (course details in LSF - registration)
- MAT-702: FEM: Theory and Application, 2+1, Ouazzi (The first meeting is online on October 11th, 2024, 10 am. Students are informed via email. If you missed the information, please contact us.)
- MAT-766: Geometric Optimization / Geometrische Optimierung, 4+2, Manns (course details) / (course details in LSF - registration)
More detailed module descriptions will also be made available in English (pdf, german and english): MAT-877, MAT-424, ...)
Course details are described at the website of the Department of Mathematics.
Other course details are presented in the system LSF. The registration for most of the courses will be possible via LSF ("belegen"); sometimes the registration starts shortly before the start of the lectures. Students need their TU-account for the registration.
Material will be made available via the Moodle learning management system. When registering in the LSF system, students are also enrolled in the corresponding Moodle course.
Minor subject
The program also includes a minor subject: construction mechanics & statics, chemistry, electrical engineering and information technology, computer science, physics, technical mechanics.
At the beginning of the winter semester, we will hold a joint (virtual) meeting or consultation hour for all new students of the program and explain details about the minor subject.
In the minor subject, 16-20 credit points must be earned.
For this purpose, modules can be selected relatively flexibly from the corresponding offer of the respective Master's program (e.g. Computer Science, Physics, ...).
Overview: 120 credit points in total: 10 CP Simulation techniques / 5 CP seminar / 15 CP study project / 30 CP Master's thesis and 40-44 CP mandatory elective mathematics / 16-20 CP in the minor subject (e.g. with 16 CP in the minor subject, at least 44 CP must be completed in mathematics, etc.)
In LSF you can find the courses in Winter 2024/2025: Computer Science - Master (e.g. Vertiefungsmodule) / Physics - Master / ...
Introduction and Welcome
A joint meeting of all students of the programs Technomathematics / Industrial Mathematics will take place on Wednesday, October 09, 2024, at 2 pm in room M614/616 (6th floor) of the math building.
